Lingering, Disobedience and Salty Pillars

For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. 2 Corinthians 7:10

We read this in church last night in connection to Matthew 5 where we are the salt of the earth, and how salt can lose it's saltiness.....I am amazed at how far God's Mercy towards Lot and his family went, and also how Lot's wife chose not to obey in that mercy. The men even seized Lot in his lingering!! Why do we linger when God commands us to do something that will save our life? Why did Lot's wife want to look back? I am praying that we do not have a lingering disobedient heart like Lot and his wife. The Day of The Lord is near  and God is GOOD,SERIOUS,JUDGEMENTAL,MERCIFUL,LOVING,RIGHTEOUS, and PATIENT all at the same time.

Genesis 19

15As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city.” 16But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. 17And as they brought them out, one said, “Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away.” ... 24Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven. 25And he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. 26But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
