The distinction of.....REPENTANCE

Jesus warned individuals to repent of their sins and to trust in himself in the motive of love, because he desired to love his Dad and do what he wanted, which was to take upon himself the full brunt of His Justice for sin. Jesus' motive was love and he desires your motive to trust and follow him to be love, not fear of Justice. Indeed, the consequence of our sin is heavy and eternally final (hell), but do we understand perfect Justice, and are we recognizing that there has been an escape route provided by God (the Just One) through His Son Jesus Christ for us? The fact that God has made a way to escape also makes Him the Merciful and Kind One!
Everything God has done for us is wrapped up in love. God loves you and Jesus loves his Dad enough to obey him in suffering for you. Out of love for you, Jesus would rather suffer your just penalty for doing wrong then for you to have to for all time. He did this for your family too.

There is WAY more to life then what we can see and feel with our bodies. Friends, there is an eternity of life or death awaiting our souls after we die. Don't discount the Gospel (Good News) about Jesus in these present times no matter where you live in this world. The Devil has worked so hard to deceive you, and keep you from thinking that your sins have eternal consequences, that it's no big deal to do what you want, and to completely put aside and not give attention or heed what the Bible says. Think about how the world regards the Word of God today?Remember, you don't know if today is your last day on this earth, or your family member's or friend's for that matter. We are all one heart beat away from standing before God who knows everything. No person will enter into eternal separation from God, without first having to step over the love scarred body of Jesus, who says now, " Believe in me! I've done everything I can to keep you with me! I willingly took the consequence (death) for your lies, unfaithfulness, indifference, lust, stealing, self sufficiency, selfishness, sexual immorality, murder, hate, pride.... all your sins so you can be free. You were born in sin, but I want to make you born again. Repent and believe in me for your salvation. My Father loves you so much that He asked me to do this for you!! I TOOK THE PAIN BECAUSE I SAW THE JOY WE COULD SHARE TOGETHER FOREVER. You must turn from your ways (repent) and come to me in order for this transaction to begin!"

Christianity or Following Jesus Christ is misunderstood when repentance is not realized. True Christians are those people who have come to realize they are sick and in need of being saved from their sickness (sickness being sin or their nature that misses the Mark of God's Holy Standard) and practice repentance. Repentance is filled with significant implications. It turns us FROM something TOWARD something DIFFERENT. Repentance transforms your life, your values, your attitudes, and your actions. True biblical repentance includes your entire being: the mind, will, and emotions. This results in new thoughts and beliefs, new words and actions, and eventually new emotions. When you repent of your sin, and put your trust in Jesus, God forgives you of your sin and puts Jesus' perfection upon you. Through that faith and repentance you become perfect in God's eyes, because You trust in who Jesus is, and what he has done for you.... NOT in yourself nor what you have done, nor others or what they have done. God's way is NOT the way of this world, it is NOT wrapped up in your own understanding, or in the millions of books that have been written by men. You say, " well the Bible was written by men?" Start reading the Bible yourself and spending significant amount of time considering what you read, then ask we're these men not inspired by God when writing these books? Try it, read the Bible for yourself. It's divine.

The Bible reveals a most wonderful thing about God's grace for those who practice repentance. He knows those who trust him will struggle in sin even after turning to him in faith, and yet through his Holy Spirit he knows they will hate to keep on sinning, because they love Jesus and appreciate the sacrifice he made for them personally. Why would a person who is a Christian want to continue on doing the very things that Jesus had to die for to save them ....without putting up a daily fight to starve that thing or kill it or repent of it? The distinction of a true Christian is they live in a state of repentance and movement toward Jesus, who is the Great High Priest, and able to wash away sins eternally or "70x7" fold! The goal of a true Christian is to reach a greater repentance through God's grace, not through man made effort or works, but HIS GRACE AND WORK.

So how does a person come back to being a true Christian if they have not been repenting of their sin? How does a country come back to being Christian if it has not been repenting of its sin? Are the individuals of that country willing to admit their wrong doing, wrong thinking, wrong believing, wrong condoning and repent? Are they willing to put the Bible back in schools, prayer back in schools, are they willing to ask forgiveness for their sins. God is powerful enough to heal you, and any country that will repent. Nothing is impossible with God.

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. (2 Chronicles 7:14, 15 NLT)

God's Word is very clear about what is right and wrong for all people. We ought not minimize it, avoid it, down play it, parcel it out, believe only in the bits and pieces we agree with and ignore the rest, add to it, for any reason. The consequences of such things are serious.

"And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31, 32 ESV)

Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven! (Matthew 18:21, 22 NLT)

The power that is in Christianity is experienced when repentance is applied. Christianity is the only faith that believes God did the ultimate and final work for people to get to heaven through Jesus Christ. All other religions depend on man's own attempts to get right with God. But our man made effort is not good enough:

For we have all become like one who is unclean [ceremonially, like a leper], and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment; we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away [far from God’s favor, hurrying us toward destruction]. (Isaiah 64:6 AMP)

The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But those who are being saved know it as the very power of God. As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.” So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense. But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength. Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God. God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:18-31 NLT)

"For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. (1 Corinthians 4:20 ESV)

To repent you:

1: Stop sinning and confess your sin:

*Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning..... (1 Corinthians 15:34 ESV)

*If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:9, 10 ESV)

2. TURN FROM YOUR SIN:

*But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who confesses the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.” (2 Timothy 2:19 ESV)

3: DO THE OPPOSITE:

*Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil. Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:25-32 ESV)

There is not much time left. Repent from your sin back to God by walking to the foot of the cross of Jesus and ask him to forgive you and wash you clean. To give you a new heart and to become your Lord and Savior.

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, (Acts 3:19 ESV)

I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. (Revelation 2:21 ESV)

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:2 ESV)

Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. (Matthew 3:8 ESV)

So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. (Mark 6:12 ESV)

Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude]. (Revelation 3:19 AMP)

....and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts. (Revelation 9:21 NASB)

Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:1-10 NLT)

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but WANTS EVERYONE TO REPENT. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, (2 Peter 3:9-11 NLT)

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. (1 John 2:15, 16 NLT)

Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain; it offers escape from the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:27 NLT)

Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin. By fearing the Lord, people avoid evil. (Proverbs 16:6 NLT)
